Alex's FMP- Weather 

The context of my project is weather and how that can link clouds and the patterns made by weather fronts to fashion design. The creative question that I will be answering is- How can the shapes and forms of clouds inform how I can create repeat pattern or wedding dress? The specialist pathway that I intend to go down for this project is fashion design, this will influence how I will attack my 'creative question' because I will have to create a design that links to the theme of clouds and weather. 

 

The deadline for this Final Major Project is the 27th of may 2022 however we must have our physical outcomes finished by Friday the 13th of may. The target audience for this piece is who will view the end of year exhibition at the collage, my work will have to be appropriate for this target audience and I must apply the rules and regulations set by the college.

 

My primary research will inform my project because when we went to The Design Museum in London I took some really great photos of different items of clothing that people have made and designed. I will use the work of others to inform and develop my project by researching into fashion designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Mary Quant and Bridget Riley. My secondary research methods that I used were looking at magazines such as Hunger, Dazed and Confused and Vogue, I also did some internet research into Vivienne Westwood and other fashion designers. I have considered ethics by not showing fashion in an extremist way. I have considered sustainability by investigating into alternative materials such as seaweed and paper. Sustainability is really important within the world of fashion this means that I will have to pay a special amount of attention to it. I have worked with Refashion my town and one of there main goals is to reduce waste and slow down the toxic motion of fast fashion. 

 

The purpose of my artwork is to explore the theme of weather and how the shapes and forms of clouds can be interweaved within the design of a wedding dress. I have generated some initial ideas by using my research to inform what I have drawn, I have mainly focused on the shapes and forms of clouds and wedding dresses and how that can neatly tie together. The materials that I intend to use and explore are your kind of standard wedding dress materials and also I would really like to experiment with paper. The techniques that I will be using is sewing and sticking materials together. The processes that I will be using is fashion design and hopefully some digital design.

 

I will record my reflective practice weekly on the 'evaluation and reflection' page on this website. What I am going to to each week is set out on the brief, I will put a picture on the right. I will evaluate my work by doing weekly reflections and after the project is finished we will do a final evaluation.
